General Complex Rules

Town Houses & Cottages


  • Charcoal grills/smokers or other open flames are not permitted on any property in Barrier Dunes.
  • Please do not hang towels or clothing from decks or outside railings.
  • Loud music is not permitted outside.


General Information


  • Fires and fireworks are not permitted anywhere on Barrier Dunes property.
  • Golf carts are to be used for transportation purposes only and all drivers must be licensed and at least 16 years old. No parking on grass.
  • Speed limit within the gates of Barrier Dunes is 17 miles per hour. For the safety of pedestrians and cyclists. please abide by the speed limit.
  • The gate code changes monthly. Please make sure you and your guests have the proper monthly code.
  • Sea turtle nesting season is May 1st through October 31st, please turn off or shield outdoor lights, close drapes/blinds or turn off indoor lights to prevent lights from shining onto the beach at night.


Garbage & Parking Areas

Garbage


  • Normal collection schedule, March 15th – Labor Day, is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, or as demand dictates.
  • Other times of the year pickup days are Monday and Thursday.
  • Homeowners and guests are asked to place their garbage in the containment area or closet the night before pickup day.
  • Household garbage must be disposed of in a garbage bag and placed in the closed garbage closet or designated enclosed garbage containment area for the unit.
  • Garbage and/or garbage container shouldn’t be visible from the street.
  • Homeowners please instruct guests not to place trash bags in the driveway or by the side of the road.  Trash will be collected from the designated garbage area for each unit.
  • Remnants from a successful fishing trip (i.e. fish guts, bait, scallop shells, etc.) must be disposed of off-site.  Do not put this type of waste in unit garbage.
  • Large items must be disposed of by homeowners (i.e. grills, TVs, furniture, outdoor chairs, umbrellas, tents and/or large boxes) they will not be picked up by the grounds crew and cannot be placed in the garbage dumpsters.


Parking In Common Areas


  • Only private passenger vehicles are allowed in driveways (the designated parking space).
  • Boats (if they will fit) and trailers are to be parked under the unit and may not be parked in driveways.
  • Vehicles and boats may be parked in an approved overflow parking area, but limited to 14 days while the owner or guest is currently on the property.
  • A violation notice will be placed on the vehicle or boat after the 14 days giving the owner 48 hours to remove the vehicle or boat. If it is not moved by the owner within the 48 hours this violation will result in a tow/removal (at owner’s expense). 
  • Please do not park in the street or in the grass; there are overflow parking areas available.
  • Please do not remove any white posts. They were placed to stop encroachment.
  • Parking is not permitted for R.V.’s or Campers anywhere in the Common Areas.
  • Please make arrangements prior to your arrival for storage of all unauthorized vehicles. All unauthorized vehicles parked in Barrier Dunes are subject to be towed at owner’s expense.
  • All passenger vehicles and boats parked illegally are subject to be towed at owner’s expense.

Shared Common Areas

Common Grounds


  • All pets must be kept on a leash at all times and under the control of the leash holder at all times.  No pet is to be left outside on decks or carport unattended.  Barking dogs can create a nuisance to neighbors.
  • You must clean up after your pet.  There are pet “waste stations” located on the property.
  • Golf carts, skateboards, scooters, rollerblades, etc. are not allowed on boardwalks or walkways.
  • Trash must be disposed of properly.



Pool Rules


  • There is no lifeguard on duty – swim at your own risk.
  • Parkside pool is open from 9:00 A.M. until dusk. Gulf front pool is open from 9:00 A.M. until dusk.
  • Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Pets are not allowed in pool areas.
  • Glass containers are not allowed in pool areas.
  • Observe posted pool rules (no jumping, diving, or running).
  • Do not remove pool furniture from pool areas.
  • Make sure all gates are securely closed.


Tennis Court Rules


  • Lights must be turned off and the gate closed when leaving the tennis courts.
  • Tennis courts are open from 8:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M.
  • Regulation shoes must be worn on the courts.
  • All trash must be removed before leaving tennis courts, including balls, cans, and lids.
  • Bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades, scooters, basketballs, etc. are not allowed on tennis courts.
  • Pets are not allowed on tennis courts.
  • Tennis courts are for tennis and pickle-ball games only.


Boat Cleaning Station


  • At the boat cleaning station dispose of all trash in the provided waste bin.
  • Turn off water and return hose to storage hanger.
  • Do not block roadway when cleaning your boat.


Beach Information (As Information Only)


  • State law prohibits walking or playing on the dunes. The dunes protect our property so please do not encroach onto the dunes.
  • The beach has no lifeguard on duty. Swim at your own risk. Please know that there is always the presence of rip currents.
  • Please dispose of all trash before leaving the beach. Trash receptacles are provided at the end of each boardwalk.
  • Pets must be on a leash (Gulf County ordinance). Clean up after your pets and properly dispose of waste in designated containers.
  • During turtle nesting season it is against the law to touch or disturb nesting sea turtles, hatchlings or their nests.
  • All holes dug in sand must be filled in before dusk. 
  • Open fires on the beach must follow the Gulf County ordinance: It is unlawful for any person to have open fires within 100 feet of any structure (boardwalks included) on Gulf County beaches with the exception of designated areas that may be posted as permitted by Gulf County under the supervision and prior authority of the county administrator.
  • All materials brought to the beach should be removed from the beach by the owner or users that same day and extinguishing open fire. All open fires on Gulf County beaches shall strictly prohibit material to burn other than natural wood materials (pallets, wood with screws, nails or any metals and all pressure treated woods are strictly prohibited from burning on Gulf County beaches). The county administration reserves the right to prohibit open fires on Gulf County beaches for designated days due to unfavorable weather conditions and public safety concerns.
